Characteristics:
1.1 Journal „The Transformation of Private Law” (ISSN: 1641-1609), published since 2000, is a scientific quarterly focusing on the changes in the field of the private law.
1.2 The purpose of the journal is to record the developments in the field of the civil law including the latest legislative changes, to research the impact of new technologies and social changes on the private law and its institutions, and to accentuate the doctrine of the private law of Central and Eastern Europe and emphasize its unique character in the international discourse.
1.3 „The Transformation of Private Law” has published Polish authors including B. Gawlik, I. Karasek-Wojciechowicz, A. Kubas, P. Machnikowski, M. Mataczyński, L. Sobolewski, M. Pecyna, J. Pisuliński, and foreign authors including C.W. Canaris, W. Hadding, P. Hommelhoff, D. Martiny, E. Micheler, S. Shavell.
Availability:
2.1 The journal is available in the majority of the law libraries of Polish universities. Moreover, staring from the issue 1/2006 all complete articles are available at no cost on the website https://journals.law.uj.edu.pl/tpp. Furthermore, in the event of discontinuation of the Journal, published issues are available in the Jagiellonian University Repository.
2.2 The journal is indexed in the following databases: The Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (CEJSH), Index Copernicus (ICI), ERIH PLUS, POL-index.
Publishing and financing:
3.1 The publisher of the journal is Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Editor-in-chief is the only person authorized to represent the journal during any proceedings necessary for the organization and publishing process.
3.2 Jagiellonian University in Kraków is the only entity financing the publishing of the journal. Other entities involved or co-sponsoring particular issues of the journal are listed in the respective issues.
We encourage authors to send us article proposals, reviews and glosses. We gladly accept important, unpublished court rulings.
Submission guidelines:
1.1 The journal “The Transformation of Private Law” publishes academic articles focusing on changes in the field of private law. Articles should address issues selected strictly on the basis of merit, especially they should not present „selected problems”.
1.2 The editorial board accepts proposals on a continuous basis. Consecutive issues of the journal consisting of at least three articles are published every three months at the end of each quarter of the year. All the issues are published in the digital and printed form, with printed form serving as the basic medium.
Submitting text proposals:
2.1 The text proposals should be submitted via this website in a .doc or .docx file.. For assistance please contact the editorial board: redakcjatpp@gmail.com.
2.2 The text submitted to the editorial board should include following information:
a) name and surname of the author(s)
b) affiliations of the author(s)
c) information about the author(s) including DOI number (published in the article’s annotations in a form of an asterisk)
c) the title of the article in Polish
d) the title of the article in English
e) an abstract of the article in English
f) keywords in Polish
g) keywords in English
h) references placed directly under the submitted article and formatted according to the guidelines available on the website
2.3 Following items should be appended to the submitted text:
a) a declaration that the paper is an own work product, that all the persons meeting the criteria of its authorship have been listed, and it has never been published before and is not currently being considered for publication elsewhere
b) a completed form including information listed in 2.2 and authors’ personal information (address of residence, telephone number and email address)
Publishing conditions:
3.1 Publishing a text in the „The Transformation of Private Law” Journal as well as submitting it for a review process is free of charge.
3.2 The author(s) are not entitled to remuneration for publication. They are entitled to receive one author copy of the Journal.
3.3 The Journal provides immediate open access to its content under the Creative Commons BY 4.0 license. Authors who publish with this journal retain all copyrights and agree to the terms of the CC BY 4.0 license.
Initial review:
- The editorial board follows the principle of the equality of the authors. The editorial board can reject a paper without reviewing it only when:
a) it does not meet the criteria of a scientific article,
b) it covers topics unrelated the subject of the journal,
c) it its submitted by a member of the editorial or programme board or by a person whose personal or professional connection with the member of the editorial or programme board may affect the publishing or reviewing process. Should such an article be accepted members of the editorial and programme boards whose engagement may arise concern about conflict of interests will be excluded from the reviewing and publish process.
Peer-review process:
- Papers are reviewed according to the reviewing procedure. Papers submitted without necessary form will not be reviewed and they will not be submitted for independent external peer review:
a) minimum two independent external reviewers with at least Doctor of Law degree are appointed for review of each papuer. They are not affiliated with the Jagiellonian University in Kraków nor with the university the author is affiliated with.
b) the identities of both reviewers and authors are concealed from each other throughout the reviewing process (double-blind review process).
c) guidelines used for the reviewing process provide that in addition to giving the author the most important notes on the content of the article the paper should be classified into one of the following categories:
- negative review: the paper is not eligible for publication
- negative with the condition of revision: the paper may be eligible for publication if it undergoes major modifications
- positive with the condition of revision: the paper is eligible for publication but requires minor modifications
- positive review: the paper is eligible for publication
d) if a paper receives two reviews with one being positive and the other negative it is submitted to a renewed reviewing process. The final decision about publishing of the article is made by the editorial board after taking into consideration the content of the reviews, author’s response to the reviews and the paper itself.
Dispute settlements:
6. All disputes regarding this journal should be settled amicably.
